One of my goals in life is to get into heaven.
The Bible clearly lays out how to get into heaven.
The foundation is having a close relationship with God.
Before, I get ahead of myself.
What does the Bible say?
25 Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
– Matthew 6: 25-34 (Emphasis mine)
I can go off many tangents here.
I want to answer the question is “How do you know when you are seeking first his kingdom and his righteousness?”
What does it mean to seek first?
Seeking is an attempt to find something, a desire to obtain or achieve something.
First meaning it should be your highest priority.
What is his kingdom?
Everything dealing with God. The church, Jesus, God’s will, the Holy Spirit, and the Word.
What is his righteousness?
Godly conduct. Is your actions in line with God’s will?
How do I apply this practically?
- Pray consistently/daily
- Read your Bible consistently/daily
- Fellowship with christians consistently/weekly if not more
- Be mindful about God throughout the day
- Share the good news with those who don’t know yet or are misinformed
Honestly, I need to work on all of these areas. I want to be better. I want a closer relationship with God.
I would like to say at one point in my life that I have never missed a quiet time in a year.
It’s overwhelming so I’m going to have to do another simple promise to myself and keep myself accountable for another 30 days of quiet time sharing through my blog. Please follow along and provide insight, comments, and encouragement.
I’m too fragile right now to take any criticism so if you can make it a constructive one – filled with love go for it.
Ideally, I would love to do it in the mornings and I can on weekends, but I have a challenging time on the week days.
It’s recommended to have you quiet times in the morning “being first”, perhaps one day.
Please correct me if I’m wrong and please share on how you seek first his kingdom.
Thank you for reading and God bless.
Love and peace,
